Meghan Markle has been spotted wearing patches on her wrists that are said to reduce stress, but that’s not the only unusual technique she uses to stay healthy and have a balanced mind.
It seems that maintaining a healthy body and a happy mind has always been a top priority for Meghan Markle.
Even on the days when he was running his lifestyle blog, The Tig, he would share his best health and wellness tips with his followers. And it seems that even though this happened years ago, a feeling of well-being and being grounded is still very important to the royal.
In fact, just last week, she was spotted wearing an anti-stress patch on her wrist, which is said to help with symptoms of stress and insomnia. But it’s not just stress that Meghan has seen or talked about in the past, it seems she has a variety of ways to keep herself healthy…
5am practice
It may not be for everyone – but Meghan is said to be a fan of the early morning – rising at dawn every day to do yoga around 5am. Her mother, Doria Ragland, is an LA yoga instructor and seems to have passed on her love of yoga.
Meghan once told Best magazine about her passion for the practice, saying: “Yoga is my thing. My mom is a yoga instructor, and I started doing mom-and-me yoga with her when I was seven years old. I was very resistant as a child, but he said, ‘Flower, you will find your practice – just give it time.’ In college, I started doing it more regularly.
“My health, my state of mind, the feeling you feel after a workout; all of these things pushed me to step onto my mat. Sometimes the idea of working out sounds absolutely awful, but I always remind myself how good it feels afterward. Euphoric, almost !”
Yoga face
But it’s not just yoga for the body that Meghan seems to enjoy – she also reportedly likes doing facial yoga, which is said to help smooth wrinkles and give skin a glow. “I do facial exercises from one of my favorite estheticians, Nichola Joss, which basically makes you sculpt your face from the inside out,” Meghan revealed in a previous interview with Birchbox. “I swear it works, as silly as you can feel. On the days I do it, my cheekbones and jawline are much more sculpted.”
British facial gymnastics expert Danielle Collins claims: “facial yoga brings together all layers of the skin to increase collagen and strengthen muscles. It also trains you to relax areas of tension that can lead to frown lines. It’s a natural alternative to Botox.”
Dietary options
Meanwhile, apart from working out, Meghan has been transparent about her lifestyle choices, especially her diet – and previously spilled all things cooking on her now-defunct blog, The Tig. To start her day, she once revealed how she has hot water and a lemon wedge, which is said to aid digestion. As for the rest of her diet, Meghan once said that “it’s all about balance”.
She told Better Health in 2016 about how she avoided dieting and opted instead for a term called “lifestyle eating.” She explained: “When I’m filming, I’m conscious of what I eat. I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little more flexibility with what I dig in on the weekends. Because I work out in a way. Yeah, I never want to. feeling deprived. I feel that when you do that is when you start doing things.”
Green juice
Meghan’s early start means she may need a pick-me-up to keep her energy levels up – but it seems she isn’t opting for coffee. She has once expressed a fondness for green juices, saying that a blend of “apple, kale, spinach, lemon and ginger” is “a much better upgrade than a cup of espresso.”
But the duchess didn’t deprive herself of much, especially when she went to lunch. He once said in an interview: “I always wish I was lunching with people, so we could share fries. It’s its own food group for me.”
Acupuncture and meditation
When it comes to her mental health, there’s one therapy she and husband Prince Harry have reportedly done in the past – acupuncture. Meghan is said to have had acupuncture regularly before the birth of Prince Archie and visited a herbal health centre. It is said he turned to celebrity acupuncturist Ross Barr to perform the needle treatment.
A source close to Barr previously told Vanity Fair: “It increases blood flow to the uterus. He plans to use it until the due date.” The fee can be as high as £6,240 a year for a weekly 45-minute session. The couple are also said to have checked into Barr’s London clinic before they married. In fact, Barr is mentioned in the confessional section of Harry’s memoir, The Reserve.
Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry are also known to meditate, with the pair practicing every day. In this shocking Netflix docuseries, the couple can be seen taking part in a guided meditation when the instructor can be heard telling them to inhale and exhale as they sit on the couch with their palms facing the ceiling. After finishing, Meghan then wiped the tears from her eyes.
Anti-stress patch
Meanwhile, Meghan’s newest wellness technique is one she showed off last week when she was spotted near her home in Montecito. He has an unusual blue patch stuck to the inside of his wrist.
And apparently it is an anti-stress patch developed by the NuCalm brand. Known as the Biosignal Processing Disc, it is said to “provide resonance and frequency to ensure a fast-acting, deep, and long-lasting NuCalm experience.” The drug-free treatment is said to increase gaba neurotransmitters, reduce stress hormones and improve sleep, according to US maker NuCalm. Patches cost $80 (£63) for a pack of 20, or $400 (£315) for a pack of 100.
