Ranbir Kapoor has received a lot of praise for his perfect physical transformation in his upcoming film ‘Animal.’ The internet is obsessed with how amazing she looks and one cannot really accept the effort it must take to achieve such a transformation. While Ranbir has done a great job of sculpting that fantastic body there was actually another man who was a part of this journey and none other than the actor’s fitness trainer, Shivohaam.
In an exclusive conversation with News18, the celebrity fitness trainer takes us through Ranbir Kapoor’s process of physically preparing for his role in Animal and shares a tip or two on how one can achieve what could almost be called the unattainable.

Can you share Ranbir Kapoor’s training process?
The process is actually quite simple, as I don’t really believe in complicated stuff. The greatest stimulus for seeing growth and progress in terms of aesthetics is training. The training program has to be customized based on the client and of course, there is a lot of effort being put into it from the client side as well.
Meals have to be monitored with respect to the breakdown of proteins, carbohydrates and fats, making sure there is a certain strategy behind gaining muscle but not fat, and then when the time comes to lean, losing fat but not muscle.
Being in a calm state of mind is very important and luckily Ranbir is by nature a very calm and patient human being which makes the process a lot easier.
How is Ranbir’s training for Animals different from other films? What are the prerequisites?
Yes, he has put on weight and bulked up for Sanju as well, but here in Animal he has to look a little intimidating, and because of his approach, his kind of bulking is very different.
We always see her in romcoms, in the last movie we saw her with a chiseled beach body but this was different. For Animal, he had to earn quite a bit and that was a prerequisite.
Top 5 things Ranbir Kapoor is following in terms of fitness?
- Morning concussion aloe vera, amlas, wheat grass n haldi along with green juice in the morning
- Solid workout routine
- Disciplined lifestyle
- Consistent timing with the food
- Show up every day and do what needs to be done
What is required for physical training? How long did RK spend in the gym?
Each day’s practice would start with a small warm-up, and then we’d spend time on mobility work and injury prevention. Post 60-70 minutes of solid weight training and end with 5-10 minutes of core work. Once or twice a week some functional training to keep fitness levels high.
What type of diet do you suggest for RK?
I wouldn’t call it a diet, it’s basically a nutrition plan designed by me and cooked by the chef. He is a man of simple tastes and he is not fussy at all, basic meat, vegetables, rice, dals, you could say ghar ka khana. Calorie intake is strategically planned and it makes all the difference to her appearance.
How was your experience coaching Ranbir Kapoor? Is there an incident you’d like to share since you’ve coached him?
I’ve been with him for almost 3 years now and I can’t remember a single bad training day. He’s focused, does what he says and he’s honestly the client every coach wants.
What’s your tip for those who want to follow Ranbir’s fitness steps?
Follow his goals and his thought process and not what he does. Everyone’s lifestyle is unique and you can’t live the same lifestyle, but you can follow his thought process about how he does things and sees things.
